Calling all GKs!

They call us The Gatekeepers -- and if you love Ned and Alexis as much as we do, you've come to the right place.

When The Gate was first launched, TPTB (the powers that be) of General Hospital weren't even aware that NEXIS had a fan base. Today, the Gatekeepers are known as one of the most vocal, persistent, organized, NICE and enthusiastic fan groups in existence. That reputation is not lost on the actors who portray the characters we love.

Wally Kurth and Nancy Lee Grahn know who we are. They acknowledge us in interviews and they look for us at personal appearances.

Additionally important, TPTB know who we are. Although the characters of Ned and Alexis have not always traveled the same path, the writers and producers of the show are aware that there is a particular love of the pairing of their characters and an enduring friendship exists between this irresistible combination.  We have told them of our joy and our pain, our hopes and our dreams . . . and they have heard us.  They are aware by now that we want QUALITY writing and attention for these two characters.  Hence, Ned and Alexis have gone from an afterthought to an important couple on the GH compass.

However, consistency and courage, not complacency, are the key . . .

ARE YOU READY?

Because we are! We vow to work with you, keep you motivated and maintain organization so that we continue to be heard. We cannot impress upon you enough that this is a vast responsibility and we need the most active/vocal/enthusiastic fans who are willing to get out there and carry on the fine tradition of the Gatekeeper *G* . . .

WHAT IS A GATEKEEPER?

Well, in this case, it's a person particularly dedicated to Ned / Alexis / NEXIS, who is willing to go that extra mile to get the word out on the messages boards, to the soap mags, and to TPTB.

WHAT DO GATEKEEPERS DO?

As Gatekeepers, you will have a few general, everyday responsibilities:

CAMPAIGNING!

This is everyone's number one priority, because without NEXIS, there's not a lot of point to any of this.

• The most effective way of letting TPTB know what you want is through snail mail. Write to Felicia Minei Behr and Brian Frons:

  Chuck Pratt, Jr. and Bob Guza, Jr. get transcripts of every call at the end of the day, so call and tell them that we appreciate all Ned and Alexis gems thrown our way.  Particularly let them know when we see something absolutely "Priceless"!

   

• Posting on the Message Boards:

  This is extremely important. We think one of the things we are most guilty of is just hanging out on our own boards, but we need to get out into the general GH boards. Like (Soap Zone). We've always had the numbers, but we also have competition.  We think that 2002 should be the year of NEXIS, but some think that the pairing is over when the reality is that the REAL story has never been told.  It's OUR job to make sure our opinion is known. One thing we would like to stress, however, is to BE POLITE to those who may want to pick a fight with you.  The best ammunition to use against a bully or someone who doesn't respect your opinion is to either ignore them or kill them with kindness.

   

• The Soap Zone Voting Booth:

  First, the Gatekeepers must go to the Voting Booth on a weekly basis. If there are questions about Ned / Alexis / NEXIS, copy the questions/results into an e-mail and send it to Gatekeepers@nedalexis.com so that your fellow GKs are aware of it.

  Second, as Gatekeepers, you must drive the Voting Booth, meaning you must come up with Ned / Alexis / NEXIS questions. The Voting Booth limits you to one question a week, so be creative and join in!

   

We all know that we have the numbers, the enthusiasm and the organization.  We need to make sure that everyone knows that we're out here and we're not going to fade away and we're not going to tolerate a back burner romance, nor will we tolerate Ned and Alexis being treated as secondary characters, either as a couple or individually.
